Greetings Parents,
We are off to a fabulous start of our school year. The children and I have had fun learning about maps and different landforms, methods of addition and subtraction, and asking and answering questions when reading. Curriculum Night is Tuesday Night -- all parents are welcomed to attend the PTA meeting starting at 6 and then Curriculum Night will immediately follow at 6:30 (1st session) and 7:05 (2nd session) in my room.... Room 207.. Beginning of Grade test this this Wednesday, September 13, 2017. Get a good night sleep on Tuesday and a healthy breakfast Wednesday morning! HOMEWORK: *GO ON A READING ADVENTURE FOR 30 MINUTES EVERY NIGHT * STUDY YOUR MATH FACTS -- FACT QUIZ EVERY FRIDAY! * MATH SPIRAL SHEET IS DUE EVERY FRIDAY! |
Reading and WritingOur journey into English Language Arts will include goal setting to increase fluency/comprehension, book clubs used to expand skills- such as character analysis, main idea, and details. We'll also learn different reading genres (informational texts, mysteries, biographies, realistic fiction) and participate in writer's workshops.

MathWe will dive into Math this year by expanding our knowledge in place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions and geometric shapes.
We are currently studying different ways to add and subtract up to 1,000 (NBT.1 and NBT.2). We will begin rounding number to the nearest 10 and 100 on Monday, Sept 11. Click on the link below for parent help videos. |
Science and Social StudiesOur exploration in the world around us will include body systems, plant growth, changes in matter, objects in the sky, civics, geography and history/colonial America.
